The Leadership Lumpkin County (LLC) Program, organized by the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce, is a dynamic, year-long leadership development initiative designed to cultivate informed, engaged, and connected community leaders.

Goals of the Program:

  • Develop Leadership Skills: Enhance participants’ leadership capabilities through workshops and real-world exposure.
  • Foster Civic Engagement: Encourage active involvement in community and civic life.
  • Build Connections: Create a strong network of leaders committed to the future of Lumpkin County.

Program Overview:

Leadership Lumpkin County brings together a diverse group of participants from across the community to explore key sectors and issues shaping the region. Through a series of immersive sessions, participants gain firsthand insight into local government, education, economic development, public safety, tourism, and more.

Leadership Lumpkin County is the experience of a lifetime. It requires commitment and time (1 day a month) from class members, but, in return, offers a substantive education on the inner workings and resources of our county! Leadership Lumpkin was designed over 30 years ago to be a springboard for those interested in volunteering their time to community service.

In addition to learning about what makes our county prosperous, participants get to meet the community leaders who make things happen. Class members also have a year to get to know each other, develop business associations, and forge new friendships.

Class Schedule Highlights:

The class consists of a Welcome Dinner, nine class days that are typically the 1st Thursday of every month from September to May, and the Graduation Dinner. Students are also required to complete 30 volunteer hours and attend three local government meetings. Class days typically range from 8AM to 5PM, the class day times do fluctuate based on location and subject of the classes. Students can miss two class days and are reminded that there is no make-up available.
